Lidstrom close to 2 year extension

According to Aftonbladet, Niklas Lidstrom is close to signing a two-year extension with the Detroit Red Wings. The Norris Trophy winner has been in negotiations with the Red Wings and a deal could be struck soon. "I can a lot well intend myself to extend and to continue after this season. I know myself still fresh in the body and is motivated," said Lidström to the Swedish News Agency. Lidstrom's contract ends after this season. Source

GMs Glen Sather and Don Waddell were recently spotted huddled together in conversation at the Thrashers-Rangers game. Could they be talking about which Hossa brother is better, or is something else brewing?

According to Bruce Garrioch, the Colorado Avalanche and the Ottawa Senators are Peter Forsberg's preferred destinations. Citing "two NHL sources", it's believed that Forsberg would want a 3 year deal at $5 million a year. Garrioch adds that the Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers and Vancouver Canucks have a shot at the oft-injured star. GM Bryan Murray has asked fellow Swede Daniel Alfredsson to make a call to persuade Forsberg to join the Senators. Source
