NHL and Hockey Rumors for March 18, 2013

The St. Louis Blues have signed forward Ryan Tesink to an entry-level contract. Tesink was the Blues' sixth-round selection at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The Ottawa Senators have signed free agent defenceman Troy Rutkowski to a three-year entry-level contract.


The Sens have also signed defenceman Michael Sdao to a one-year, entry-level contract.

The Boston Bruins have signed forward Anthony Camara to an entry-level contract.  Camara was Boston's third round choice in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The Bruins have also signed forward Alexander Fallstrom to an entry-level contract.

The Vancouver Canucks have signed forward Ludwig Blomstrand to an entry-level contract.  Blomstrand was the Canucks' fourth round choice in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The Canucks have also signed free agent forward Kellan Lain to an entry-level contract.

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed defenseman Keegan Lowe to an entry-level contract.  Lowe was the Hurricanes 3rd round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The Canes have also signed defenseman Danny Biega to an entry-level contract.

The New Jersey Devils have signed forward Reid Boucher to an entry level contract.

The Washington Capitals have signed forward Mike Knuble to a 2-year, $5.6 million contract.

The New York Rangers have signed enforcer Donald Brashear to a 2-year, $2.8 million contract.

The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed defenseman Scott Niedermayer to a 1-year, $6 million contract, with bonuses.

The Vancouver Canucks have signed defenseman Aaron Rome to a 1-year, $550,000 contract.

The Nashville Predators have re-signed forward Joel Ward to a 2-year, $3 million contract.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed defenseman Lukas Krajicek to a one-year deal.

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed goalie Brian Boucher to a 2-year, $1.85 million contract.

The Montreal Canadiens have signed defenseman Jaroslav Spacek to a 3-year, $11.5 million contract. Brochu's take: I think we can safely say that GM Bob Gainey has lost his marbles.

Sydor traded for Boucher

The Dallas Stars have traded Phillipe Boucher to the Pittsburgh Penguins for defenseman Daryl Sydor.

Bouwmeester wants out?

According to New York source Newsday, a source close to defenseman Jay Bouwmeester has said that he wants out of Florida. Brochu's take: Expect the bidding to be high for him. Source

The Panthers have also put forward Jozef Stumpel on waivers.

The Vancouver Canucks have claimed Toronto Maple Leafs forward Kyle Wellwood off waivers.

The Ottawa Senators have traded tough guy Brian McGrattan to the the Phoenix Coyotes for a 5th round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry draft.

Sources are saying that the Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed Vincent Lecavalier to a 9 year, $77 million contract extension. As per CBA rules, the deal cannot be finalized until July 1.

The Anaheim Ducks official website is saying that it's very likely that defenseman Scott Niedermayer will return for the 2008-2009 season. Niedermayer has only one year left on his contract. Brochu's take: This could potentially cause cap problems for the Ducks this summer. Look for one of their defenseman to be shopped. Source

The San Jose Sharks have re-signed forwards Joe Pavelski and Jeremy Roenick and backup goaltender Brian Boucher on Wednesday.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have bought out the final year of Marc Denis' contract, making him an unrestricted free agent. Denis cleared waivers Wednesday. Source

NHL trade deadline round-up: Part 5

The Atlanta Thrashers traded forward Alex Giroux to the Washington Capitals for forward Joe Motzko.

The San Jose Sharks signed goaltender Brian Boucher to a one-year contract. Source

The New York Islanders re-signed forward Mike Comrie to a one-year, $4 million contract extension.

Rangers after Boyle, Rucinsky and Sundin?

The New York Rangers dominate this rumor report, as several sources indicate that they could make a big splash at the trade deadline.

The New York Post is reporting that the Rangers are making a push for Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Dan Boyle. If Boyle is not signed by the deadline, and if there are no takers for forward Brad Richards, Boyle could be moved.

The New York Post reported the New York Rangers are believed interested in bringing back St. Louis Blues winger Martin Rucinsky for a fourth tour of duty on Broadway. St. Louis president John Davidson likes defenseman Marek Malik, but the Rangers would require a defenseman in return. Source

Marty York of Metro News believes that Toronto Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin is "no. 1" on the Rangers shopping list. Source

New Jersey Devils GM Lou Lamoriello is in the market for a "rental" player, and is not interested in signed players. Source

Team 1040 radio in Vancouver is reporting a rumour that the Dallas Stars would send defenseman Phillipe Boucher and goalie Mike Smith to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Brad Richards.

The Boston Bruins have placed forward Stanislav Chistov on waivers. Chistov left his Russian Super League team Salavat Yulaev Ufa late last week. Source

The Los Angeles Kings claimed Matt Ellis off waivers from the Detroit Red Wings.

The Edmonton Oilers put Patrick Thoresen on waivers Thursday.
