NHL and Hockey Rumors for March 23, 2013

The St. Louis Blues have traded forward Matt D'Agostini to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a conditional 4th or 5th round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

The Carolina Hurricanes have claimed forward Zach Boychuk off waivers from the Nashville Predators.  He has been placed on waivers by the Canes.  Brochu's take:  Boychuk is sure getting his frequent flyer miles.

The Washington Capitals have placed forward Joey Crabb on waivers.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have placed defenseman Brian Lee on waivers.

The New York Rangers have placed forward Jeff Halpern on waivers.

The Lightning have signed defenseman Andrej Sustr to a two-year, entry level contract.

The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed forward Patrick Maroon to a two-year contract extension.

The Ottawa Senators have signed free-agent goaltender Andrew Hammond to a two-year entry-level contract.

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed free agent forward Kyle Flanagan to a one-year entry-level contract.

Latest NHL Signings! Part XIII

The Atlanta Thrashers have re-signed forward Jim Slater to a one-year contract. They have also re-signed forward Joey Crabb and defenseman Nathan Oystrick.

The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed forward Matt Ellis.

The New York Rangers have re-signed forward Brian Boyle to a 2-year, $1.5 million contract.

The Calgary Flames have re-signed forwards Jamie Lundmark, Carsen Germyn and Ryley Grantham to contracts.

The Los Angeles Kings have re-signed forward Scott Parse to a one-year contract.

The Dallas Stars have signed defenseman Mark Fistric to a 3-year, entry-level contract.

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed defenseman Richard Petiot, forward Peter MacArthur and forward Bryan Bickell to one-year contracts.

NHL free agent signings for July 16, 2008

Catching up on some backlog, here are the latest NHL free agent signings:

The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed Shawn Horcoff to a 6-year, $33 million contract extension. Brochu's take: That's a lot of money for a 29-year old guy that's reached 70+ points. Even including his intangibles, he's overpaid.

The Oil have also re-signed Zach Stortini to a three-year, $2.1 million contract. They also signed right wing Carl Corazzini on a one-year contract.

The Atlanta Thrashers have signed restricted free agent goalie Kari Lehtonen to a one-year, $3 million contract. They also re-signed defenseman Nathan Oystrick and right wing Joey Crabb.

The New York Islanders have re-signed forward Jeff Tambellini to a two-year, $1.175 million contract. The Isles also signed forward Sean Bergenheim to a two-year contract worth $1.725 million.

The New York Rangers have have signed Nigel Dawes to a 1-Year, $587,500 contract. They have also signed Dan Fritsche to a one-year deal.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have agreed to terms with defensemen Jaime Sifers and Richard Petiot, center Alex Foster and right wing Ben Ondrus on one-year contracts.
