Hockey and NHL Rumors for Oct 21, 2010

According to TSN, Ottawa Senators GM Bryan Murray is upset with his team's performance this season and is not afraid to make changes. "I've talked to a number of people, as I said," Murray said. "I talked to (Minnesota Wild general manager) Chuck Fletcher for a long time yesterday and said, 'can I help you, you help me' type of thing, so we're talking to management of other teams, trying to find if there is a need and possibility of making a move."  Brochu's take:  Stay tuned.  Murray is looking to shake up the roster and a trade is definitely possible.  Source

The Nashville Predators have signed forward Steve Begin to a one-year, two-way contract.  He has been subsequently put on waivers.

The Preds also placed forward Jamie Lundmark on waivers.

Latest NHL Signings! Part XIII

The Atlanta Thrashers have re-signed forward Jim Slater to a one-year contract. They have also re-signed forward Joey Crabb and defenseman Nathan Oystrick.

The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed forward Matt Ellis.

The New York Rangers have re-signed forward Brian Boyle to a 2-year, $1.5 million contract.

The Calgary Flames have re-signed forwards Jamie Lundmark, Carsen Germyn and Ryley Grantham to contracts.

The Los Angeles Kings have re-signed forward Scott Parse to a one-year contract.

The Dallas Stars have signed defenseman Mark Fistric to a 3-year, entry-level contract.

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed defenseman Richard Petiot, forward Peter MacArthur and forward Bryan Bickell to one-year contracts.

NHL and hockey rumors for Oct 7, 2008

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed left wing Dan LaCouture to a one-year, two-way contract.

The Calgary Flames have placed defensemen Anders Eriksson and Rhett Warrener on waivers, along with forward Jamie Lundmark.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed forward Mark Bell on waivers.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have released defenseman Richard Matvichuk.

There are rumors that the Detroit Red Wings are interested in free agent forward Brendan Shanahan.

According to Metro News, the Boston Bruins are shopping forwards Peter Schaefer and P.J. Axelsson in hopes of landing a puck-moving defenseman. Source

NHL free agent signings for July 17, 2008

The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired the rights to defenceman Danny Richmond from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for the rights to Tim Brent.

The Atlanta Thrashers have signed forward Marty Reasoner to a contract. The Thrashers also re-signed restricted free-agent forward Brett Sterling to a multiple-year contract on Thursday.

The Montreal Canadiens have signed forward Max Pacioretty to a three-year, entry-level contract.

The San Jose Sharks have signed defensemen Matt Kinch and Brett Westgarth to one year deals.

The Calgary Flames have signed forward Jamie Lundmark and defenseman Adam Pardy to one-year contracts.

The New Jersey Devils have signed defenseman Jay Leach and left wings Jon DiSalvatore and Chad Wiseman.

Sharks to make moves?

The San Jose Sharks held a two hour players only meeting on Friday to discuss their troubles. Many players believe that a change in attitude is needed. GM Doug Wilson prompted the meeting, and if he feels the players are still not responding, he will consider some serious changes, such as trades or even firing coach Ron Wilson. Source

Defenseman Magnus Johansson has cleared waivers and has been assigned to the AHL Rockford IceHogs by the Chicago Blackhawks. He will report to Rockford, but may decide to return to Sweden. Rumors are that he will most likely return to his old SEL team, Linköpings HC. Source

Forward Jamie Lundmark has left Dynamo Moskva (Moscow) and is now playing with the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL. He was signed to a professional contract with the Hershey Bears, but he had to clear re-entry waivers. Source
