Foote stinks?

Adam Foote's sudden departure from the Columbus Blue Jackets to his old club in Colorado has left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths in Columbus. The Columbus Dispatch's Michael Arace reports that Foote wanted $4 million a year for 2 years, while the Jackets offered $3.5 million. Foote had a jet ready to take him to Calgary if a trade happened, something that he had expressed "shock" about, but knowing full well he wanted to go back to Denver to retire. Source

The Miami Herald is reporting that Florida Panthers owner Alan Cohen is upset about another losing season and things could be changing very soon. "I thought we made progress every season, but I can't say that about this season. It's been a major disappointment to date,'' Cohen said. Not making the playoffs this year is simply unacceptable to management, to our fans, and it should be to our players.'' GM and head coach Jacques Martin looks to be on the chopping block in the very near future. Source

The CBC Hotstove panel on Hockey Night in Canada is speculating that Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mats Sundin is leaning towards retirement this summer, and will make a decision sometime in June.

The St. Louis Blues have re-signed forward Brad Boyes to a 4-year, $16 million contract extension.
