NHL and hockey rumors for July 30, 2008

The Minnesota Wild have placed forward Mark Parrish on waivers. According to the Star-Tribune, if he clears the 24-hour waivers, it is likely he will be bought out of the remaining three years of his contract and will become a free agent. Brochu's take: A more than serviceable player, Parrish ended up in Jacques Lemaire's doghouse. I'm sure someone will pick him up.

The Ottawa Senators have re-signed forward Josh Hennessy to a two-year, two-way contract.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed center Dave Gove and defenseman Danny Richmond to one-year contracts.

In an interview on AM 640 in Toronto, Carolina Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford stated that defenseman Bret Hedican is likely to sign with a California based team. Brochu's take: The San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks are pretty set on their defense, which makes the Los Angeles Kings the most likely destination. Rumors of him signing with the Kings have been strong all summer.

Brochu's European rumor roundup:

Several NHL teams have been pursuing Finnish free agent defenseman Juha Uotila, including the Phoenix Coyotes, Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers. Source

There are rumors that forward Marty Murray may be returning to the NHL. Murray spent last season playing for HC Lugano in Switzerland.
