According to Pierre McGuire on the Team 1040 radio in Vancouver, an Eastern Conference team has already made an offer to the Florida Panthers for defenseman Jay Bouwmeester, but has "not heard from them for two weeks." McGuire also talked to several GMs, and one GM in the Western Conference will "do anything to get him.". Brochu's take: Perhaps Panthers GM Jacques Martin knows that he won't be re-signing Bouwmeester, and is waiting to see what kind of offers there are.
McGuire also added that the three NHL teams that are the most rumored to be making a coaching change are the Vancouver Canucks, New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins. Brochu's take: Lots of speculation coming from Vancouver and Pittsburgh, but that's the first I've heard that Tom Renney could be on the chopping block.
According to a Binghampton publication, the Ottawa Senators will cut short goaltender Martin Gerber's conditioning stint and place him on waivers Thursday. Source
Brochu's European rumor roundup:
Defenseman Josef Boumedienne has left the Toronto Marlies and signed with Finnish team Karpat. Boumedienne signed a contract with the Maple Leafs this past summer. Source
