Latest NHL signings!

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed forward Marian Hossa to a 12-year, $62.4 million contract. Brochu's take: What is GM Dale Tallon doing? He already has great players in Toews and Kane, whose contracts are up next year and both could command $6 million+. Not to mention he still has several RFAs to sign. Do the Hawks really need Hossa's offense?
The Florida Panthers have re-signed RFA forward David Booth to a 6-year, $25.5 million contract.
The New Jersey Devils have re-signed defenseman Andy Greene. Terms were not disclosed.
The Colorado Avalanche have signed goalie Craig Anderson to a 2-year, $3.6 million contract.
The St. Louis Blues have signed goalie Ty Conklin to a 2-year, $2.6 million contract. Brochu's take: No Winter Classic for Conklin, who has managed to play for 3 of those games already.

Trade deadline wrap-up, Part 2
The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded forward Nik Antropov to the New York Rangers in exchange for a second round draft pick as well as a conditional draft pick. Brochu's take: I guess the price came down after all, as GM Brian Burke was asking for a first. The Rangers seem to be making a big run in the playoffs.
The Leafs also traded forward Dominic Moore to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a second round draft pick. Brochu's take: Burke continues to collect more picks.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have also traded goalie Olaf Kolzig, defencemen Jamie Heward and Andy Rogers and a fourth-round pick to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a prospect Richard Petiot. Brochu's take: What??? How did the NHL even allow such a trade to happen. Yes, it's a pure salary dump, but teams should at least make the deal somewhat fair. Maple Leafs win this one, no question.

The Bolts also traded forward Mark Recchi and a second round draft pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft to the Boston Bruins in exchange for defenseman Matt Lashoff and forward Martins Karsums. Brochu's take: A fairly even trade, as Recchi could be a good playoff performer. Lashoff and Karsums are good young players that will probably be traded by the Bolts in the summer. ;-)
The Boston Bruins have added some defensive depth and toughness by acquiring Steve Montador from the Anaheim Ducks for forward Petteri Nokelainen.

NHL and Hockey Rumors for Jan 30, 2009
The New York Rangers have traded forward Dan Fritsche to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for defenseman Erik Reitz. Frtische cleared waivers on Wednesday.
The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed forward George Parros to a three-year contract extension. The deal is believed to be worth $875,000 annually. Brochu's take: It was supposed to be a two-year contract, but his moustache got an extra year.
According to USA Today hockey writer Kevin Allen, there are many players believed to be available before the March 4 trade deadline. Among the most talked about are Ottawa Senators forward Dean McAmmond, Los Angeles Kings defenseman Sean O'Donnell, Nashville Predators defenseman Greg De Vries and forward Radek Bonk. Allen also believes it's possible that the Anaheim Ducks could shop one of their impending UFAs, a group which includes Brendan Morrison, Steve Montador, Todd Marchant, Sami Pahlsson, Travis Moen, and both Niedermayer brothers. Brochu's take: Allen lists others, but they have been all reported earlier in rumors. I don't think the Ducks will shop anyone yet, as they are fighting for a playoff spot. Source

NHL free agent signings for July 11, 2008
Sorry about the delay, there will be another post later today focused on the KHL (Russian) rumors that have been around lately.
The Minnesota Wild have traded defenseman Shawn Belle to the Montreal Canadiens for forward Corey Locke.
The Wild have also signed forward Krys Kolanos to a contract.
The Anaheim Ducks have signed defenseman Brennan Evans to a two-year contract and defenseman Steve Montador to a one-year contract.
According to RDS.ca, the Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed Vincent Lecavalier to a 11 year, $85M contract extension.
The Bolts also announced the resignation of executive vice president and general manager Jay Feaster. He has come to terms with the owners, as Feaster had 3 years left on his contract. Brochu's take: Everyone saw this coming when most of the deals were announced by Koules, Barrie or Lawton. It won't take him long to find a job though, as he is well respected member in the old boys club.
