NHL and hockey rumors for Aug 9, 2008
The National Post is reporting that Toronto Maple Leafs GM Cliff Fletcher is waiting for a list of teams that defenseman Bryan McCabe is willing to waive his no trade clause for. Fletcher has stated that McCabe has "softened his stance". Source
The Buffalo Sabres have signed defenseman Teppo Numminen and forward Tyler Bouck to one-year contracts.
The Calgary Flames have re-signed forward Cam Cunning.
The Chicago Blackhawks have signed center Pascal Pelletier to a one-year contract.
The Florida Panthers have signed forward Janis Sprukts to a two-year contract. Sprukts spent last season with Finnish team Lukko.
The Carolina Hurricanes have invited forward Jeff O'Neill to a try-out contract.
The Phoenix Coyotes have signed forward Adam Perry to a contract.

The Montreal Canadiens have signed defenseman Chad Anderson to a one-year contract.
The Washington Capitals have re-signed forward David Steckel to a one-year contract extension, due to start in the 2009-2010 NHL season.

Forward Jan Hlavac's agent has informed the Nashville Predators that his client will be playing in Sweden next year and will not be signing with an NHL team. Rumors are that Linkoping and Modo are in the hunt.
Forward Stephen Dixon has left the Anaheim Ducks organization and has signed with Brynas of the Swedish Elite League. Source
Forward Zbynek Hrdel has left the Tampa Bay Lightning organization and has signed with HC Sparta Praha (Prague) of the Czech Extraliga. Source

The Nashville Predators have agreed to terms with left wing Triston Grant on a one-year contract.
The St. Louis Blues have signed goaltender Jean-Phillipe Lamoureux. Source

NHL and hockey rumors for Aug 3, 2008
According to the Puck-rakers blog of the Columbus Dispatch, the Blue Jackets have invited defenseman Richard Matvichuk to training camp as a non-roster tryout. Matvichuk spent last season with the New Jersey Devils AHL affiliate Lowell, scoring a goal and three assists.
The Tennessean is reporting that the Nashville Predators are talking to the agents of four unrestricted forwards: Glen Murray, Mark Parrish, Martin Gelinas and Jan Hlavac. The Preds are looking for a forward in case Alexander Radulov does remain in Russia. It's also been confirmed that the Predators have talked to one other team about trades. Source
